Therapy for Teens Who Feel Like They Have to Hold It All Together

Being a teenager today isn't easy.

Between school, sports, friendships, social media, family expectations, and figuring out who you are, it can feel like there's never a chance to slow down. Many teens are carrying anxiety, perfectionism, self-doubt, or overwhelming stress while trying to convince everyone around them that they're doing just fine.

Therapy offers a place where they don't have to have all the answers.

Whether you're feeling anxious, stuck, overwhelmed, burned out, or just unsure of who you are becoming, we'll work together to understand what's going on and help you build the tools to navigate it.

Common Reasons Teens Come to Therapy

You don't need to be in crisis to benefit from therapy.

Many of the teens I work with are experiencing:

  • Anxiety and constant overthinking

  • Depression or feeling emotionally numb

  • Stress related to school and academics

  • Sports performance pressure and perfectionism

  • Burnout and emotional exhaustion

  • Difficulty regulating emotions

  • Low self-esteem or lack of confidence

  • Friendships and relationship challenges

  • LGBTQ+ identity exploration and support

  • Family conflict

  • Major life transitions

  • Grief and loss

Teen therapy isn't just about managing problems. It's also about helping adolescents discover their strengths, build self-confidence, improve relationships, and navigate life's transitions with greater resilience and self-awareness.

Therapy That Meets Teens Where They Are

Every teenager is different, so therapy shouldn't be one-size-fits-all.

My approach is collaborative, practical, and rooted in genuine connection. I draw from evidence-based approaches including Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Narrative Therapy, Internal Family Systems (IFS)-informed work, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), and strength-based approaches to help teens better understand themselves, regulate emotions, improve relationships, and build confidence.

Rather than focusing on what's "wrong," we explore what's getting in the way of living a life that feels authentic and meaningful.

A Therapist Who Understands High Expectations

Before becoming a therapist, I was a Division I athlete, coach, photographer, and business owner. I understand the pressure of high expectations, performance, and feeling like your worth is tied to achievement.

Many of the teens I work with are athletes, high achievers, creatives, or young people who care deeply about doing things well. Others are simply trying to figure out who they are and where they belong.

I also strive to create an affirming space where LGBTQ+ teens feel safe, respected, and fully accepted.

Working with Parents

Supporting a teenager often means supporting the family, too.

Parents are an important part of the therapeutic process, and we'll work together to determine the right balance between protecting your teen's privacy and keeping you involved in ways that support growth and communication.

You Don't Have to Figure It Out Alone

Growing up is challenging, but your teen doesn't have to navigate it by themselves.

If you're looking for a therapist who understands the unique pressures today's teens face and provides compassionate, evidence-based care, I'd love to connect.
